our book club reads happy books!

I am a wife, mother, sister, daughter, library manager, quilter, and life-long  avid reader.

Two of my earliest reading memories:

Back in the day, in order to get a library card, you needed to be able to print your name. My dad took all us kids to the library every 3 weeks. I practised my name diligently and finally the big day arrived. I was so nervous I wrote one of the letters backwards. I had that card for a looong time and that mistake always bugged me.

When I was in kindergarten, my brother taught me to “read” from his 1st grade reader. By the time I started 1st grade, I could read the whole book and was sure I would be the smartest one in first grade. As  luck would have it, they changed the reader that year, and I couldn’t read it at all.  Turns out I had only memorized the 1st reader!

Life lessons: there will always be mistakes, and there will always be someone smarter! And don’t give up on reading!
